The Project
The EU states encourage the practice of sport as an instrument of social cohesion, including people with disabilities, it is equally doubtful to what extent the different degrees of disability are treated. this is the case with severe disabilities, which prevent the mobility of all limbs and trunk, such as Cerebral palsy or tetraplegia. People with such disabilities need special assistance, equipment, and facilities so that they can play certain sports. One of the sports that can be practiced is BC3, a Paralympic sport recognized by the International Paralympic Committee in 1984 and included in international competitions. Even in this case, however, it is necessary to undergo specific training to facilitate the practice of this sport. This training does not only concern the sporting exercise itself, but also all the psycho-social aspects of disability that are connected to the practice of sport.
In this context, the project stands as a small piece in the jigsaw puzzle of sports, educational and social policies promoted by the EU with the overall objective of promoting sport as a tool for social inclusion, with particular attention to the most severe disabilities.
Ramps4Champs 2.0 – School edition therefore fits perfectly within the programme’s specific objectives. By involving persons with disabilities in project activities, the project contributes to the realization of the horizontal priority “inclusion and diversity”. The planned activities will promote meetings and sports events between young students with severe disabilities and their able-bodied peers to transmit values of inclusion through sport.”)
The Ramps4Champs 2.0 project is the second edition of the Ramps4Champs project. You can find more information at: https://ramps4champs.eu/
